A proud tradition.

HALBA is a great success story. Today, HALBA is part of the Coop Group and a leading manufacturer at the forefront of sustainable Swiss chocolate, innovative snacks and high-quality baking & cooking ingredients.

In the beginning, only the pioneering spirit of the two founders was of a similarly impressive magnitude. In 1933, Mr Hallheimer and Mr Baer began making chocolate in a Swiss living room. Since then, the company has borne their names, even though HALBA’s product range has grown far beyond just chocolate specialities.

Constant growth.

At HALBA, we have been making delicious chocolate for decades, but our experience isn’t the only reason for our success. The first production facilities were opened on the outskirts of Basel back in 1907. They specialised in trading and processing imported products such as nuts and dried fruits. Under the name Sunray, the product range was continuously expanded and readily adapted to the market. From the very beginning, tremendous value was placed on high-quality raw materials.

Stronger together.

United by their shared values and goals, Chocolats Halba and Sunray joined forces in 2017 to become the HALBA we know and love today, with headquarters in Pratteln near Basel.

The pioneering spirit of those early days has also endured. That’s why HALBA not only focuses on the day-to-day business, but also on future generations with its total commitment to sustainability.
